    DANNY BARBOUR – mixed media

Born in Glasgow, but resident in North Yorkshire for over 20 years, Danny has been involved in creative pursuits including photography, model making, painting and mixed media, for longer than he can remember. Living in a city that has gone through successive waves of regeneration, from the 60s to the present, has led to a fascination with what lies beneath, from the stripped back layers of buildings during demolition, to peeling paintwork and rusting metal.

Danny also has a long-standing interest in history and archaeology and sometimes metal detecting finds from the fields near his home will appear in his work. This interest extends to other historic items, such as

Christina Mary Kathleen Cox was born in Wo-Sung, China, on 2, July 1904. She was the eldest daughter of Dr R. H. Cox, who was from Dundalk. • Christine Cox ceramics

For the past 25 years Christine has been co-organiser, with husband Geoff, of the Potfest ceramic markets in the UK. Since their retirement in 2019, their son Matthew, who has been organising Potfest Scotland for the past 10 years, has now taken over the day-to- day running of all the Potfest events thus freeing up time for the further development of Christine’s own ceramic work.

‘I studied Fine Art in the 70’s but have worked in ceramics for the past 40 years. My paintings were concerned with weathered textures and this keen exploration of layered surfaces has stayed with me over time. The current work is driven by repeated visits to a sea-cliff in Cumbria which is the result of years of tippings from an iron and steel works – liquid flowing molten waste, hardened, compacted, eroded and collapsed – then refined and polished by the sea. My ceramic surfaces are the result often of multiple firings and many layers of glaze. Each piece is totally unique.’
