Allan Carr (né Solomon; May 27, 1937 – June 29, 1999) was an American producer and manager of stage for the screen. He was nominated for numerous awards, winning a Tony Award and two People's Choice Awards, and was named Producer of the Year by the National Association of Theatre Owners.[1]
Early career
[edit]Carr was born Allan Solomon[2] to an American Jewish family[3] in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Lake Forest College and Northwestern University, but his interest was always in show business. While at Northwestern, he invested $750 in the Broadway musical Ziegfeld Follies starring Tallulah Bankhead. Alan Graham Carr (born 14 June 1976) is an English comedian, broadcaster, and writer. Alan Carr is 5'8". His breakthrough was in 2001, winning the City Life Best Newcomer of the Year and the BBC New Comedy Awards.
In the ensuing years, Carr's career burgeoned on the Manchester comedy circuit before he became known for co-hosting the comedy variety show The Friday Night Project (2006–2009) with Justin Lee Collins. This led to the release of a short-lived entertainment show Alan Carr's Celebrity Ding Dong (2008), and he went on to star in the comedy chat
