Manchester does… The Last Waltz

'Manchester does… The Last Waltz' will see eight of Manchester’s best new talents taking on the mantles of eight legendary acts at that original epic show in 1976 - amongst others, Glastonbury New Talent winners The Travelling Band take the central role of The Band and hot prospect Liz Green will be blues legend Muddy Waters.

My Haworth/Hayworth ancestors were Quakers. Those who are descended from Hazel Dell Hayworth Erwin can trace their roots to the Friends Church movement of the early seventeenth century in England. But in order to understand how the Religious Society of Friends movement – perhaps better known as Quaker – came to be, one must have some idea of the religious turmoil in England during the 1600s.
Early in 1642 an English civil war broke out between the supporters of Charles I on the one hand, and Parliament on the other. As the conflict grew, the Parliamentarians, or Roundheads, took the offensive. They made steady progress, especially when Thomas Fairfax and Oliver Cromwell took command, with their specially trained cavalry and retrained army. In the end Charles I and his supporters were defeated. Parliament in July 1646, issued a set of reforms which came to be known as the Propositions of Newcastle. It established that Parliament
