A former superintendent with Thames Valley Police, with thirty years experience in the force, David Hodges is a prolific crime writer and author of twenty crime novels plus an autobiography on his life in the police service. American electrical engineer and digital telephony pioneer
David Albert Hodges (–) was an American electrical engineer, digital telephony pioneer, and professor of electrical engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.
Hodges was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering in for innovative contributions to integrated circuit design techniques and their application to data and signal processing.
Education and career
[edit]Hodges received his B.E.E. degree from Cornell University in , and his M.S. () and Ph.D. () from Berkeley. From he worked at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill and Holmdel, NJ. In he joined the faculty in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at UC Berkeley, where he has served as professor, department chair, and dean.
He helped establish metal–oxide–semiconductor (MOS) devices as a practical technology for telephony applications, which led to the rapid development and wide adoption of pulse-code modulation
