Originally from Martinique and the DRC, and steeped in RnB music, Dory is a zouk singer with urban and Caribbean influences. In 2011, she broke into the Caribbean music scene with the single " Don't let me go ", followed by her singles " Dilemme " (2017) and " Trop pour moi " (2019), which brought her to the attention of a wide audience in the Antilles-Guyane and France, the latter racking up over 5 million streams. I was in the process of deleting the zouk love article and start off with the zouk article as if it was merged and I realized that this is not going to work out very good. Zouk beton or zouk, the original zouk have a history too and should have its own section. It's true that the style is not as popular these days, but this music have a history. Believe it or not, the fast rhythms of zouk are still being heard in African and Caribbean genres, soca, bouyon, kuduro, gumbe, soukous, etc. Don't just forget about the music like it never exsisted just to please compas fans....it is not a good idea. Opa Music caught up with Zouk artist, Milca who is here in the United States on a mini tour before heading back to Paris to wrap up her upcoming studio skiva. Most likely you recently heard the beautiful and seductive röst of the Zouk Femme Fatale on the hot duet Toi et Moi featuring Arly Lariviere off Djazz La’s Vol. 8 CD. As it seems we are about to hear a whole lot more from Milca in the Compas market. She just completed the film shoot to Toi et Moi which should be out soon. OpaMusic.com: We were introduced to you back in 2005 when you released your debut skiva Simplement, how many albums have you since released in total?
