Secrets and Silence: The Extraordinary Collection of Clara Miccinelli
BOOK REVIEWS 81
have already discussed this issue in the pages of this journal (Barnes ).
Clara Miccinelli' s ideas were first presented in Quipu: ii nodo par/ante dei misteriosi Incas (Animato et al. ). This book was apparently aimed, like Miccinelli' s other work, at occultists. With I nodo segreti degli incas Italian archaeologist Davide Domenici and his father, journalist Viviano Domenici have produced a new volume on these manuscripts, taking into account papers, quipus (also spelled khipus), and other objects that Miccinelli has revealed in the intervening years. This book has the virtue of twenty-four good color plates, most showing Miccinelli' s collection. Because these objects are not generally accessible to the scholarly community, clear photos are especially welcome. These replace poorly-printed black-and-white versions that have already appeared (for example, in Canru ).
