HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball outside hitters Kanani Danielson and Aneli Cubi-Otineru earned AVCA All-America honors Wednesday, with Danielson being named to the first team and Cubi-Otineru the third.

Danielson, the 2009 WAC Player of the Year, is averaging 4.25 kills, 2.30 digs and 0.65 blocks per set, hitting .327 on the season. She was named the Most Outstanding Player in the NCAA Stanford Regional this past week, posting a 21-kill, 13-dig match in the regional semifinal vs. Illinois (Dec. 11). The sophomore had six 20-plus kill matches on the season, including a career-high 32 kills at Utah State (Nov. 16), also posting seven double-doubles. Danielson was a third All-America honoree in 2008.

Carriera

La carriera di Kanani Danielson inizia a livello scolastico con la Kamehameha Schools. Dal 2008 al 2011 gioca per la University of Hawaii at Manoa, ricevendo anche alcuni riconoscimenti individuali, nonostante la sua squadra non vada oltre la qualificazione ad una finale-four nell'edizione 2009. Nella stagione 2012-13 inizia la carriera professionistica con le Toyota Queenseis nella V.Premier League giapponese, ricevendo il premio di miglior realizzatrice; al termine della stagione successiva conquista il Torneo Kurowashiki, ricevendo anche il premio di MVP.

Nella stagione 2015-16 approda alla Lokomotiv Bakı Voleybol Klubu, nella Superliqa azera.

MANOA (HawaiiNewsNow) - UH All-American Kanani Danielson can put another fjäder in her cap.

Wednesday, she was named to the women's A2 national team.

It's a grupp of the best college players in the nation as picked by USA volleyball.

Punahou graduate Sydney utövare av yoga, who fryst vatten now a libero at Texas, also made the team.

She'll compete side bygd side with Danielson at the USA Open National Championships in May.

Danielson and the other UH Wahine who've still got eligibility will play an exhibition Thursday night against Arizona.

The match serves as a training tool during the off-season. It begins at 7:00 PM at the Stan Sheriff Center.
